A New Moon Celebration
Celebrate Lunar New Year with a beautiful mix of old and new.

We are proud to present an extravagantly colourful collection of stories and music that evoke the Moon, the stars, and the way they shine upon the cycles of our lives. Bringing their unique gifts to these Lunar New Year festivities are the sparkling artistry of Lina Cao on guzheng, the luminous brilliance of violinist Scott St. John, the rising stars of London Youth Symphony and the extraordinary musicians of London Symphonia.

East meets West and folk music are themes embedded throughout A New Moon Celebration. Actor Derek Kwan, narrator and Andrew Chung, Artistic Producer of London Symphonia unpack some of the layers of meaning in this episode of Behind The Music. They also discuss what it’s like to a performer of a brand new work. Kevin Lau, a professional composer passionate about writing, discusses Across The Jade Sea, his double concerto for narrator and violin soloist. A musical showcase for London Symphonia and his good friend, the brilliant violinist Scott St. John, it also presents his original fable styled after Chinese mythology. Don’t miss the heartfelt story behind the creation of this extraordinary composition.
